Tourist Police Bureau Marks Its 8th Anniversary Strengthening Cooperation and Driving Technological Innovation for Convenience, Safety, and Fairness of Tourists
On September 1, 2025, Pol. Gen. Kittharath Punpetch, Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, presided over the ceremony marking the 8th anniversary of the Tourist Police Bureau at its headquarters. The event was attended by the Director-General of the Department of Tourism, the Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from partner agencies, and distinguished figures in the tourism industry, with Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Pheuak-um, Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, extended a warm welcome to the guests.
The ceremony featured a Buddhist chanting ritual for blessings and a merit-making ceremony in dedication to deceased police officers, along with a presentation on the Bureau’s achievements in line with government and Royal Thai Police policies. On this occasion, the Commissioner-General praised the dedication and commitment of Tourist Police officers and emphasized that every officer should serve as both a “friend” and “reliable support” for tourists.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Pheuak-um affirmed his commitment to driving forward the Bureau’s mission in crime prevention and tourist services under the guiding concept of “Convenience – Safety – Fairness,” in alignment with the policies of the Government, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and the Royal Thai Police. Key initiatives include the Tourist Safety Operations Center (TSOC), which integrates cooperation with local police; the 1155 Tourist Police Hotline, available 24 hours in 8 foreign languages; the Thailand Tourist Police application, which enhances accessibility for tourists; and the AI Camera Project in tourist destinations, which has already led to the arrest of 421 offenders.
Looking ahead, the Bureau plans to strengthen its capabilities by deploying smart mobile command vehicles and surveillance drones in major tourist areas and festivals nationwide, while expanding its network of more than 8,500 trained volunteers across all provinces to closely support Tourist Police operations.
